Can you believe it’s November already? We’ll be starting our second term soon, and I wanted to share with you what resources we’re using and loving. Please keep in mind that just because my family uses something doesn’t mean yours has to! If your curriculum is working well for you, great! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. BUT if you’re struggling and your kids are complaining and it seems that your current curriculum just isn’t a good fit, then I hope these resources help to breathe new life into your lessons.
I like to think of my curriculum as a compass, gently keeping us on course without forcing us to follow the way exactly. Practically this means that I use bits and pieces of lots of different curricula, allowing myself to follow inspiration as it comes. Using our curriculum as a tool and modifying it to fit our families is one of the many freedoms we get to enjoy as home educators, and I’m all about it.
Let’s dive in
Kindergarten Curriculum | K Primer from The Good and the Beautiful (if you click the link and scroll to the bottom, you’ll see tabs. Click “Primer” to see what we’re using).
Morning Time | Morning Time Menus, which include our affirmation, hymn, recitation, catechism, and folksong. I made these myself using these . I’ll be sharing some free printables soon!
Shakespeare | . I’m especially excited about this because we’re adding it this term!
Scripture Memory | ABC Memory Verse Cards by Michelle Sandoval.
Additional History | Whole Story History booklist, which is especially helpful since I’m pulling from two different years from A Gentle Feast to create one hybrid year.
Phonics | and
Health | Oak Meadow, Healthy Living from the Start This is a great option if your state requires health as a subject!
Science/Nature Study | Exploring Nature with Children
Art Appreciation | A Humble Place Picture Study Aids
Music | and .
And that’s everything! If you have questions about any part of my plan, drop me a note in the comments.
So what about you? What curriculum are you looking forward to using this term?
